When you use the IntelliTrack Mobile for Windows app, Windows Mobile Device Center Software (WMDC) and the Microsoft Sync Center are used for device and PC communication. Before installing IntelliTrack Mobile:

Installing WMDC

If your computer is connected to the Internet, the Sync Center will detect if your system has the Windows Mobile Device Center (WMDC) software installed on your PC when you place your device in the cradle. If it doesn’t detect the Windows Mobile Device Center software, it will download and install it automatically from the Microsoft website when you place the device in the cradle.

If your computer is not connected to the Internet, you must download the Windows Mobile Device Center software from a computer that is connected to the internet, send the download to the computer, and then install it on the computer.

Using WMDC with Windows Server 2008

When you use the Windows Server 2008 or 2012 operating system, you must install the Desktop Experience feature before installing Windows Mobile Device Center software.

Installing the Desktop Experience Feature

The Windows Server 2008 operating system and the Windows Server 2012 operating system, requires the Desktop Experience feature when using Windows Mobile Device Center software. If you do not install the Desktop Experience feature, you will receive an error when you try to install WMDC software.

Windows Server 2008 Operating System

To install the Desktop Experience feature in the Windows Server 2008 Operating System, follow the steps below.

  1. To install the Desktop Experience feature in Windows Server 2008, go to the computer’s Control Panel > Programs and Features > Turn Features On and Off > Features Summary > Add Features > Mark the Desktop Experience selection and then select Install.
  2. The Add Features Wizard appears; Click Install to install it.
  3. The computer will restart after the Desktop Experience feature is installed. Proceed with PC-device connection and Windows Mobile Device Center Software Installation.

Windows Server 2012 Operating System

To install the Desktop Experience feature in the Windows Server 2012 Operating System, follow the steps below.

  1. Open the Server Manager.
  2. Select Add role and features.
  3. In the Add Roles and Features Wizard, select Features from the menu options to the left.
  4. The Features are displayed. Select User Interfaces and Infrastructure (Installed) feature.
  5. Next, select Desktop Experience.
  6. At the next dialog window, select Add Features.
  7. A Confirm installation selections dialog is displayed. Click Install to install the Desktop Experience feature.
  8. An Installation Progress dialog is displayed. When installation is complete, close the window. A restart of the computer is required to complete the installation.

Setting Up a Window Mobile Partnership

Before you can sync with your device, you must set up a partnership between your device and your PC. Connect your handheld device to your PC by means of a cradle connection; the Windows Mobile Device Center software starts up automatically. Click Set up your device, select the content type that you want to synchronize, and establish a partnership between the computer and the handheld according to the instructions that came with your handheld device. If a partnership is already established between your handheld device and your computer, you are already able to synchronize the data.

If you are not able to set up a partnership between your PC and your device, your computer may not be able to detect the device or your device may not be a Windows Mobile Device Center Software supported device.

Work Network Connection Setting

Before you install IntelliTrack Mobile on the device, you must have WMDC installed and configured for work network connection on the PC where the handheld device(s) will be connected.

To check this setting, follow these steps:

  1. Open Windows Mobile Device Center.

  1. Expand the Mobile Device Settings options by moving the mouse over the Mobile Device Settings entry on the Main screen. Select the more option that appears in the lower right area of the screen.
  2. The Mobile Device Settings options appear onscreen. Select the Connection settings option.

  1. The Connection Settings screen appears. In the This computer is connected to field, make sure that Work Network is selected. (If it is not selected ,click the drop-down arrow in this field and select Work Network.)

  1. Click OK to close the Connection Settings screen.
  2. You are returned to the Windows Mobile Device Center screen; the Mobile Device Settings are still selected.

  1. Select the back option in the lower right corner of the screen to return to the Main screen that displays all of the Windows Mobile Device Center options.
